On 24 September, NPP MP Harini Amarasuriya was appointed Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, by President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka at the Presidential Secretariat.
Prime Minister Amarasuriya is only the third woman to be appointed to the office of the Prime Minister. She was sworn in as the Minister of Justice, Education, Labour, Industries, Science & Technology, Health, and Investments.
