Last year, Manthri.lk published this post for International Day of Democracy. With Sri Lanka's Presidential Election only a few days away, this is more relevant than ever. Here's the story of Aakif and Kamala.

Every vote makes an equal impact. When many voters decide either to not cast their vote, or do not mark their vote correctly, the impact on election results could be very large indeed.

Manthri.lk found that on average, 1 out of 4 voters were either absent or had cast invalid votes in all Presidential and General Elections since 2000.

This is striking, as the difference between the winner and runner-up of every national election since 2000, was lower than the total number of absent or rejected votes.

Your vote is the most powerful tool you possess in helping choose the president you believe should lead Sri Lanka and help address the issues that matter the most to you and your loved ones. This election - make sure you don't miss your chance to have your voice heard.

Exercise your right to vote!
